Whincup takes second title
Vodafone 888 Ford driver Jamie Whincup's 5th place finish at the final round of the 2009 V8 Supercar Series has earned him his second straight championship.
Decked out in pink for the MCGrath Foundation, Whincup qualified in 3rd, then stayed mainly clear of the trouble that many other drivers got caught up in. Championship rival, Holden driver Will Davison finished a distant 15th.
The inaugural Sydney round held at Homebush was won by HRT driver Garth Tander, with Fords filling the rest of the podium, Mark Winterbottom in 2nd, and Jason Bright in 3rd.
888 Racing, who are switching to Holden next year, also announced the return of Caltex as one of their sponsors next season.
